Save the Children is looking for experienced development
professionals to work within the Nigeria Country Programme. This role will be
critical for the delivery of results for children expected by this programme.
We are recruiting to fill the position of:
HEAD OF HEALTH AND NUTRITION
JOB DESCRIPTION
The purpose of the role is to lead a team of experts for the
strategic design and development of Save the Children’s health and nutrition
approaches that support the acceleration of child survival work in the Nigeria
country programme.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidate should have an internationally recognized medical
qualification with post graduate degree in public health, social sciences or
equivalent;
Demonstrated experience in the design, implementation and
management of a public health programme in an international development or
humanitarian context; S/he should have technical expertise and understanding of
key issues in the field of nutrition, maternal new-born and child health, and
HIV and AIDS;
Good understanding of health systems, planning and financing
issues at national and sub-national levels;
Candidate should have excellent communication skills,
including fluency in written and spoken English and demonstrated experience of
proposal and report writing;
Experience of developing effective working relationships
with senior decision-makers in ministries, other governmental organizations,
international organizations, and donors with previous experience of working in
consortium will be beneficial;
Experience as working as a Chief of Party or similar
position would bring added value to the position with a successful track record
in securing programme funding from international donors and other financing
sources.
NUTRITION ADVISER
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Nutrition Advisor will provide technical support to
design and implement high quality and integrated Behavioral Change
Communication (BCC) and nutrition programmes for the CDGP in Nigeria to reduce
malnutrition and stunting.
S/he will provide programmatic support and technical
assistance to CDGP towards accomplishing its country goals, objectives and targets
and work closely with other Program & administrative staff within the
country program.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidate must have an academic/professional qualification
at post graduate level-or equivalent in Nutrition with substantial operational
experience and a crack record of success on nutrition programming, including
BCC and IYCE.
S/he must have sound strategic thinking and planning skills,
including ability to think creatively and to set priorities, manage work plans
and evaluate progress.
Experience in working in Northern Nigeria on a similar
context and demonstrable ability to acquire a high level of nutrition expertise
on priority issues within nutrition;
S/he should be fluent in English & Hausa; proficient in
Microsoft software packages.
Experience in supporting development of national guidelines
and policies with an understanding of food security and livelihoods programmes
will be an added advantage.
LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA TECHNICAL ADVISOR (LTA)
JOB DESCRIPTION
To strengthen the capacity of the Local Government Area
(LGA) nutrition focal person or team (as designated by the LGA) in management,
delivery, and advocacy of cost-effective malnutrition prevention and treatment
interventions (interventions include Infant & Young Child Feeding,
Community Management of Acute Malnutrition, Maternal & Child Health Weeks).
Strengthen capacities of LGA personnel/nutrition team on
planning, financing and management of nutrition interventions with LGA Team.
QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in
programme management, health and nutrition, or related social science; previous
experience with local and international NGOs; strong programme management
background; significant experience in planning, managing and delivering a
programme, including costing, managing and monitoring budgets; effective
resource planning, including commodities and technical expertise.
EMERGENCIES PROGRAM MONITORING AND EVALUATION COORDINATOR
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Emergency M&E Coordinator will provide support to
community organization, implementing partners and Plan program staff to
systematically measure progress in the implementation of Plan’s emergency
response.
She/he will provides framework through which these
measurements (M&E data) are fed back to those involved in the running of
the various component of the emergency response program and ensure that the
information can support and guide the decisions of the management team so
improve the quality and impact the program operations.
Qualifications
Candidate should have 3-5 years’ experience in M&E
positions and/or program experience in field data collection in emergencies
with detailed knowledge of M&E frameworks and M&E Plans, systems and
indicator reference sheets;
Experience maintaining programmatic databases with a good
understanding of routine data quality chocks/validation;
Candidate should also have experience in survey and
qualitative interviewing, including supervising field data collection teams and
writing research case studies with advance knowledge Microsoft Office Suite,
especially MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
Experience and/or knowledge about working with children on
research issues and is aware of the local legal and child protection systems.
EMERGENCY FIELD MANAGER
JOB DESCRIPTION
The emergency field manager is responsible for the overall
management of the field office.
Key activities include the management of all support
aspects, such as finance, administration, logistics and security; the
management of support staff based in the field office, the management of
security policy and representation of Save the Children.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidate must possess a minimum of M.Sc/MA/M.Eng level in a
relevant subject or equivalent field experience with 3yrs Substantial
experience of managing field based operations for a humanitarian/ relief agency
in rural volatile locations; s/he should have a working knowledge of the issues
facing displaced people and host communities in regard to community integration
and resettlement; security management experience in insecure environments and
field level representation with key stakeholders and Co-ordination with other
NGOs/UN and also possess strong influencing skills and experience in advocacy;
excellent communication skills in both oral and written and a good report
writing skills; An understanding of child protection issues and the impact of
violence and displacement upon children and communities. Hausa speaker
(desirable).
HEALTH ADVISOR
JOB DESCRIPTION
Ensure quality of care in Save the Children Nigeria CMAM
programme through strengthening capacities on the clinical management of SAM
and facilitating integration of services
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidate should have a medical degree (MB,BS; MB, BCh) from
a recognized/accredited University in Nigeria with at
least 3years post-graduation experience; s/he should have
previous experience with other local and international
NGOs especially in nutrition and in community based
programmes;
Training and experience on treatment of acute malnutrition;
Computer literacy and fluency in English and Hausa, spoken
and written.
